Orcs must die 3 review12/30/2023 ![]() as someone who hasn't played the previous, this didn't impact my experience. ![]() I saw one review saying OMD3 was too similar to Orcs Must Die 2, which doesn't matter to me. OMD3 does become more challenging as they increase the number of Orcs, make them tougher, etc, but nothing thus far has been frustrating. Overcooked will block your character, blind you, or mess with you in some way, which too often ends up upsetting my significant other or myself (but mostly her :p ). Many games, like Overcooked, become more difficult just by frustrating the player in some way. The game is overall cheesy, but super fun. The ways the Orcs die is hilarious at times so that is another highlight we both enjoy. We both love the amount of traps and weapons included, as well as the variety of baddies who attempt to get to your rift. This kind of synergy is rare to find in co-op games and is definitely a highlight in Orcs Must Die 3. I build the barricades and archers mostly, and she builds the floor and wall traps. We communicate everything before the level even starts, regarding what traps we are going upgrade and specialize in, so our traps complement each other. On the other hand, Orcs Must Die 3 works best when you have a partner you are working closely with. Some games like Diablo III just feel like you are sharing the same game space with another player, without really needing to work with that other player in any meaningful way. We love being able to strategize and work together on the levels. I think we both get enjoyment from the game in different ways. She is not the biggest "tower defense" player, and so she was reluctant to try it at first, but after the first couple of levels or so she was hooked. I've been playing a lot of Orcs Must Die 3 over the past couple of days with my girlfriend, and we both love it. I removed 1 star for not having couch co-op. If I compare this to other co-op games (like Get Packed, Overcooked, etc.), I'd give OMD3 a 9/10. It does a great job to bring in players who aren't big on 'tower defense', does a great job with co-op (though missing couch co-op), brings in new players to the series, and is FUN. Tl dr / summary: Overall, my GF and I are having a lot of fun with OMD3.
